Meet Andrew Carrier

I’m very excited to be joining the PlanIT Geo™ Tree Inventory and Assessments Team and contributing to the incredible work going on here. I recently moved to Colorado Springs with my wife, Alexandra, and hound dog, Lola. My wife and I were previously both in the Air Force as officers flying on the B-1B. We enjoyed it very much but never really intended to make the military a long-term career, so we felt it was time to shift gears and take on careers in other fields we’re passionate about – I’m grateful for this opportunity with PlanIT Geo!

I grew up in East Tennessee and still consider that area home. I majored in Environmental Science and Forestry at the University of Tennessee, and commissioned into the Air Force as a part of the ROTC program there – then spent the next 8 or so years flying various aircraft, moving around the country, and deploying. In addition to my basic flying duties, I also worked as an Operations Supervisor, Supervisor of Flying, Long Range Plans and Programs Manager, Instructor, Mission Lead, and Scheduler – so I’m used to wearing multiple hats! During that time, I attained the Graduate Certificate in Urban Forestry from Oregon State University and continued on to the Master of Natural Resources degree and will finish that up in the next few months. I was also fortunate enough to get some great experience in urban forestry and inventory work in Rapid City, SD this past year that I think will help me contribute to PlanIT Geo quickly.

My hobbies include pretty much anything outdoors, while backpacking, camping, hunting, fishing (especially trout), and working on my old truck are probably my favorites. When it comes to aspirations, I’d really like to experience as much as I can in the various aspects of urban forestry and see where I can contribute most. Obviously, aviation is a passion of mine and I was recently certified as an FAA-107 Drone Pilot, so anything that combines drones/aviation and urban forestry is an area I’d love to explore and develop more. I’m also looking forward to working on the Urban Forestry Consulting team at PlanIT Geo and helping cities fully realize the benefits of their urban forests.

I look forward to meeting all of you! You can reach me at
