The Jacksonville tree canopy assessment analyzed urban tree canopy (UTC), possible planting area (PPA), and the relationship of tree canopy to various environmental, socioeconomic, and demographic factors. The results provide baseline data to develop strategies to protect trees and expand canopy coverage in urban and natural areas during planning and development. The maps, project report, and TreePlotter™ CANOPY tool help to concentrate efforts in areas where needs are greatest, tree planting spaces are available, and benefits will have the most diverse impact.
