2022 TreePlotter Software Roadmap
TreePlotter Innovations in the Pipeline for the Rest of the Year
June 27, 2022 | Ian Truslove
As lots of development projects come to a close at the end of quarter two we need to decide what to build in the second half of the year. As always there are more ideas and possibilities and demands than we can possibly fulfill, so clear prioritization is important.
The most important priorities we are optimizing for are supporting and growing our mainstay customer segments, and addressing the need for a more reliable mobile solution. To this end, we are developing a new mobile-focused application to help customers, specifically crews and contractors, to track their work in the field, extending this mobile app to support tree inventory data collection use cases and replace our current offline tool, and building a deep data integration with third party asset management systems.
Mobile App
People who use our mobile applications in the field use it very differently to those in the office. We will be tailoring the new mobile experience to these users. We are building a simplified, focused, task-oriented application to help the folks in the field do their job. It will be built from day one to work well on smartphones and tablets, and will seamlessly sync in the common case of poor or non-existent internet connectivity in the field.
Our initial MVP will be focused on quickly and easily viewing existing work tasks and updating their attributes. We will expand from there. We all look forward to releasing something shiny and new, but most importantly we want to release a new tool that is very streamlined for use by our customers and our own Field Services team.

Asset Management Integrations
Many existing and potential customers utilize “one size fits all” asset management systems for everything from sewers to street lights. Once implemented by a city, departments are essentially required to use these systems, including forestry and parks. But these are general purpose asset management systems, and the TreePlotter suite is focused on helping governments, cities, organizations and businesses plan and manage their urban forests and other green assets. We want to bring a merger of these best-in-class tools to market, eventually integrating seamlessly with the most popular asset management and CRM tools used by our customers worldwide.
Get Informed, Innovate, Repeat
So that’s what’s on the menu for the remainder of 2022. These are hefty projects, and there will be smaller feature development as well, but the significant value add to our customers made their prioritization clear. We wanted to offer this peek behind the curtain so our clients know what new developments to expect in the coming months.
This was also a chance to offer a sample of the buzz of innovation that permeates PlanIT Geo. Innovate is not an empty word on our core values list. It’s a constant presence, and we find ourselves with many more new ideas than time to bring them into reality. These ideas usually start with feedback from customers, and we are always looking for further insights into what your challenges are, and how our software and services can be molded to solve them.

TreePlotter INVENTORY vs TreePlotter JOBS
Both TreePlotter INVENTORY and TreePlotter JOBS can be used to plot trees and manage tree work, but there are several key distinctions. INVENTORY is our swiss army knife software, capable of a wide range of functions and is used by public, private, and nonprofit clients.
